Walpurgis Night Child

Hello friends!

I am just coming off of what seems to be a confusing, hectic, and occasionally delightful time each year.  My birthday, April 30, which coincides with Beltane and Walpurgisnight.

As I've just finished my studies, and the official graduation ceremony will be in June, I have been looking for work.

As many of you know my dream position is in a library, working with books all day.  However, I've landed a wonderful office position working for a great company for the summer.  Jobs are scarce around here and I worried I might have ended up working somewhere that would make me miserable; so I am very pleased to have found such a great opportunity.

The librarian position will come in time.  I have applied for several positions in libraries but they all want 6-12 months library experience and a high school diploma, and don't seem to care about my degree in history (may as well be a degree in library studies for the amount of time I spent in them); nor the years of technological experience on the software they use in the libraries.  It is truly an employers market.  I would love to volunteer in order to get experience but I have to use that time to work, as most people would understand there just aren't an extra 8 hours in the day to volunteer when you work full time.

Alas sometimes the outside world is not such a magical place.  It seems I get this way each year around my birthday, as it always coincides with end of term, or in this case end of studies point blank.

It is a strange feeling of not knowing where you're going in life, which to control freaks like me is very scary.  I suppose we all feel this way sometimes

My birthday, however, was delightful.  I was gifted a fairy wand from my dear friend Natasha; the one who held the Mad Tea Party birthday party a couple of months ago.

It has a rose quartz sphere on one end and an amethyst point on the other.  It is so filled with magic and beauty, I'm in love with it!

I've been lucky to have the last couple of weeks off after finishing my studies, coming home from Florida, and finishing babysitting Remington.  I've found my inspiration once more.  I spend a lot of time browsing Pinterest and Tumblr, and plotting out new creations.  I've been indulging in books once more, it is very difficult to find time to read as a university student.  When you have the time you don't want to read because you've been forced to read 20 chapters of dry, dull material for homework that week.

I've also decided to trim my locks and add in some gold.  My hair looks so short in this picture!  I promise it is still very much long. I am loving having blonde in it!

Last but not least, this was my birthday gift to myself (ok one of several).  I pink sapphire ring surrounded by white sapphires.  I am calling it my fairy princess ring ;)  It is so magical, I can't stop staring at it.  I told Jamie he could replace it someday with an emerald but until then the fairy princess ring stays on my wedding finger hehe!

Oh and I have started a Tumblr blog!  I am not sure how many people use Tumblr but I thought I'd let everyone know in case they were interested in checking it out.

My Tumblr is : Broomsticks & Lace Tumblr

I hope everyone is well, I do hope to be back soon with some pictures from the happiest place on earth!

Lots of love,
Jenn

Good luck with the job search! I am heading toward looking for a new job pretty soon myself as I am coming to a point of being unsatisfied anymore. I won't leave before I find something else but sometimes you just know when it's time to move on!

I do love that wand. And the fairy princess ring! Magical.

Glad to hear you found a job! Sadly experience is what holds many of us back from getting the jobs we want. You may know the job perfectly and have all the skills but just because you haven't worked in a professional setting for x amount of time they won't consider you. I find it disgusting, there are all these talented graduates eager to work but employers are too lazy to take a chance on them. Hopefully you'll find your way into a library soon! Happy belated birthday. :)

Happy belated birthday, and congratulations on the official graduation! It's great the you found a job, but disappointing it was not in your area of interest. I love your ombre highlights, and your wand and ring are beautiful. xoxo Su

I'm happy you found a temporary position before these people open their eyes and realize they need you in their libraries.

Congrats on your upcoming graduation. And I already wished you a happy birthday, but hey, here it goes again: Happy Birthday!

May the magic that lives inside you, spills into the world and give you all you want and need. ♥
